Hope

Hope is an expectation or belief in the fulfillment of something desired. Present hurts and uncertainty over what the future holds create the constant need for hope.

Ephesians 2:12 says, “remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.”

Psalm 33:17-22 says, “The war horse is a false hope for salvation, and by its great might it cannot rescue. Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His steadfast love....

With the recent events that have happened in Southern California, the shootings and fires, I’m reminded (how can you help but be) that our hope is only in the Lord. We can choose to live in fear of fires and pure evil and stay locked up in our homes, avoid any public place, or run away, or we can fear not abiding in the Lord and walking by faith and not by sight. These are difficult days to say the least. These are also days when God’s children can really become the hands and feet of Jesus. If you don’t do anything else, give someone a look, a word, and a hug. It’s amazing how much hope can be administered by these small gestures.
